Identity Theft Prevention Tips
• Do not give personal information over the phone or the internet.
• Keep your passport and SSN at home.
• Keep a written record or copies of what you carry in you wallet/purse.
• Keep a list of toll free numbers of banks, credit cards companies, creditors, DMV, SSN office, for quick reference

• Add passwords to bank, credit card accounts, PDA’s, laptops.
• Do not write SSN numbers on checks nor home number.
• Review credit reports at least once a year.
• Deposit outgoing mail in post office collection mailbox or at the local post office.
• Shred pre-approved credit card applications, credit receipts, bills, other financial information.
• Never leave receipts at bank machines, bank windows, trash receptacles or unattended gasoline pumps.
• Sign all new credit cards upon receipt and write “Check ID” on the back of the card.
• Report all lost or stolen credit cards immediately to your credit card companies and the FTC.
• Beware of mail or telephone solicitations disguised as promotions offering instant prizes or awards.
